Review

Just south of the river, we have The Cornubia. Without being told it is there, most would probably never come across it. However, I am glad I did. It maybe a little on the small side, but with that, it has a lot of old school charm and is a proper little boozer. This is mainly an ale pub, but it has enough ciders to keep me coming back for more. Especially for my guilty pleasure of the Apple and Pears! Read the rest of this entry »

Finding a decent pub so close to Broadmead has been quite a challenge. However, in discovering The Bank Tavern, this mission has now been completed! It is essentially a pre-clubbing venue for most on Friday/Saturday, with a host of DJs playing until the early hours. Their roast dinners are really good on a Sunday too! Well worth a visit. Bottles

Sheppys Organic
Sheppys Kingston Black

Review

Tucked around the corner from Kingsdown Parade, in Alfred Place, is The Green Man. This is a great little pub, which prides itself on being an ethical/organic pub and apparently the only one in Bristol doing this. The cider in here is mainly by Sheppys and what a nice selection it is too. From my experience, they like to change and add some guest ciders once in a while too to mix things up. This is a place where you can feel right at home and have a good natter. Read the rest of this entry »

Thatchers Traditional
Westons Old Rosie
Westons Stowford Press

Bottles

Thatchers Pear
Westons Organic

Review

Walking down from the top of Gloucester Road, all you can see from a distance is the crazy artwork outside the Golden Lion. Walk inside and you see a traditional pub, which loves hosting local gigs throughout the week. Although only serving Thatchers & Westons cider, I do love starting a sunny Saturday afternoon on the benches outside before venturing towards the bright lights of the city centre. Review

A true hidden gem in the heart of Kingsdown. This is a small and cosy pub, but still has the charm of a drinking hole from back in the day. At around £2.10 per pint, it still has the prices from back then too! This is quickly becoming one of my favourite locals. The bizarre thing about this place is the outside toilets with the amazing mural all over it. Not one I want to brave on this cold winter nights! Read the rest of this entry »
