Review:

This is probably one of the only ciders I know that is named after a steam engine. I suppose it’s as good a thing as anything to name a cider after, especially as there is some damn right odd names out there. Old Rosie was probably the first cider that got me hooked. Back then I didn’t realise how good cider could possibly be, especially as I was used to the likes of Strongbow and Blackthorn. I had a drink of this and well the rest is history as they say.

Westons have done a really good job with this cider. It may not be a true proper scrumpy, but it does have a nice smooth long lasting drink. It’s very drinkable and has a nice sour and tangy twist to it. At 7.3%, it is not to be taken lightly too. Otherwise if you do, then you could be on the floor drunk in no time. It definitely doesn’t taste that strong at all. My only down point for the cider is it’s just very predictable and not really a challenging taste. I guess being from a big cider-maker, then this is to be expected. Definitely one of my favourite Westons cider along with the Traditional Scrumpy.

Update 14/09/12: This cider was bottom of the box, which was the best bit in my opinion. It looks like an orange juice but is far from it. It’s juicy, sour and fairly smooth. Not a huge lingering taste, but probably the best Westons Cider they do. This doesn’t taste alcoholic at all really.

Overall Rating: 7.5/10

I bought a bottle of this from B&M bargains this afternoon. Normally, i tend not to drink much, as i don’t enjoy feeling really drunk and i hate hangovers. This brew is quite good, one of the best i’ve drank in a while. I will be buying this again, as it’s nice and pretty cheap also.

An excellent cider all round! Consistently good and Wetherspoons keep it well so nice and very reasonably priced too.
    But just for a change…
Put the room temperature bottles in the freezer for approx 2 hours until it starts to crystalize…
Then open and drink! Soooo refreshing! Like a cider slush puppy!
Try it!… You know it makes sense!
