Review:

As it was The Apple’s 5th birthday and they were throwing a huge cider party to celebrate, then it would be rude not to turn up right? So, of course, I went on down to sample the ciders/perries they brought out for this very special occasion. There were plenty of new ones, both on the top and lower decks, so I opted for perry to begin with, with the Orchards Blakeney Red single-variety perry being my tipple of choice.

Review:

To finish off The Portcullis cider festival, I wanted to go out with a bang. I wanted something that I would remember the festival by and to leave on a sky high note. I searched through the line of bag-in-boxes, and then I saw it, there was a West Croft dry right with my name on it. Well ok maybe not literally having my name on it, but there was a sign I should have it. After all, it was made by the same people who make Janets Jungle Juice, so it had to be good right? This was to be the chosen one for me and I asked the barman to get me my half.

Review:

I’m going back for more at The Portcullis cider festival and guess what I am going for this time? Yep you guessed it, it will be perry this time. I was just in the mood to alternate between the cider and perry all day long. One that really jumped out at me, or should I say squealed at me, was the Gwatkin Pig Squeal perry. Just having a name that sounds that cool, you just have to try it don’t you?

Review:

Next on my list at The Portcullis cider festival was to go down the cider route and have something with a bit more bite. After being impressed previously by Millwhites, with their Rioja Cask in particular, I was keen to see if all of their ciders were that good and scrumpified. The day was still only young, but how i yearned for a nice pint of farmhouse cider. It would just help my pre-birthday celebrations go from good to great.
