Hmm so it’s a Thatchers… Well love or hate them, they have been doing this cider making for a good long while. They personally get my vote over a Westons but it’s a close call. I always prefer a cider though that you can feel has been personally made and not part of a production line.

This cider is apparently made exclusively for St Austells, which seems a trend at the moment making a cider for someone else to sell as their own. I don’t have anything against it, as it means more exposure for the cider and that gets a thumb up from me.

This cider feels a bit like their traditional/heritage with a bit more bubbles and oomph. I can’t say it’s brilliant but I would happily drink it. There’s a good bit of dryness and taste but lacking something. It’s better than the likes of gold or stowford press but not in the same league as a true cider. It’s a good middle ground from commercial to true cider though.

Update 29/09/12: Like a fizzy Thatchers Heritage. Not bad but not amazing.

Would I buy this again?: Yes if nothing better on

Overall Rating: 6/10
