It was a Saturday, me and a couple friends were low on cider, so a cider trip was a must. So off we went round Somerset on hunt for cider. On the list was obviously Wilkins.

Wilkins is just an amazing place to visit. You go along and it is one of the best experiences you will have at a cider farm. Roger is just so welcoming and it feels like a help yourself type attitude to trying out the ciders. So we went and tried the whole range and I went for the medium/dry, but my friends went for the sweet and medium.

So tonight, I was offered a pint of their sweet, so how could I refuse this offer?!? I can’t turn a pint of Wilkins!

It has the same beautiful farmhouse smell of the dry, but for me the sweet is just too sweet. The sweetness just overpowers the lovely scrumpy taste. It feels like the exceptional taste wants to come out but it’s being held back. It does have a good level of bitterness and tannins, but it’s not on the same level as dry. It’s not to say its a bad cider, as it is still top quality, but it’s just not as good as it could be.

Would I buy this again?: Yes, but prefer their drier cider.

Overall Rating: 8/10
