I first came across Blaengawney Farm/Hallets last year at various Dawkins pub’s cider festivals, the International Cider Festival and most recently the Bristol Cider Shop. I have always been impressed with their ciders and this time up for review is their Hallets Real Cider in the 500ml bottles, which apparently is bottle-conditioned. This tasted on the sweet side of medium for sure, but not unpleasant at all. It’s actually quite satisfying having this one chilled. I can definitely see this being a summer chillout cider……if we actually had any summery weather to enjoy it in that is!

The smell is a mix between sweet fruity apples and a bit of a farmyard feel to it. It does smell rather sexy, if I am honest! The taste does start fairly sweet, but then the tannins just whoosh out at you and give your mouth a rollercoaster of a ride that it deserves and it has a nice crisp, fruity feel to it with a slight hint of dryness. It’s definitely one of my favourite sweeter ciders, if I want to get that fix. It’s not dry enough to keep me going back to it all the time, but I will like having the occasional bottle when it’s what I need.

Would I buy this again?: Yes
