Review/Tasting Notes:

Purchased From: Seven Stars, Bristol

It’s been a while since I have been to the Seven Stars in Bristol, which has quickly come to my attention of being a great place for a decent pint of cider in Bristol. If you haven’t been before, then it’s worth a visit. I shall certainly be back soon, especially as it’s so close to my mates place.

So this is my first experience of a Pennards cider, or Avalon Vineyard as they are also known, who are based down in Shepton Mallett. I’ve heard good and bad things about them, so I have gone into this pint with an open mind.

Just having a quick smell of this bad boy you can tell its a proper farmhouse cider. I do appreciate a good rustic smell.

As for the taste, it isn’t bad but not amazing at the same time. It’s fairly smooth, has an interesting sour bite and has moderate acidity. There is some dryness but not one to dry your mouth out. It’s like a milder rough farmhouse cider. Though the burn to the back of the throat is just not there. It’s oddly likely an easy drinking farmhouse cider.

Would I buy this again?: Yes
