So I’ve come back from a lovely holiday in Tunisia, had 2 manic days at work and finally it’s the weekend again and time to chill and let the hair down (or what’s left of it at least!). So of course what better way to do that than have a good cider. This was going to be one I would have had on holiday, but I just ran out of time to have it. The all-inclusive food and drink got the best of me in the end!

This is a Mahorall cider, which again was kindly brought back by my friend Jon when he was up in Shropshire. They are producers local to Shropshire and the farm has been in the King-Turner family for nearly 40 years. As expected, they make cider in the traditional way with 100% apple juice from local orchards and use no addictives….not even sulphites either! It all sounds exactly how a cider should be made and very encouraging to hear.

This poured with a fairly big foamy head to the cider, but this settled very quickly and has just a small amount of bubbles fizzing away in there. The smell has a fairly sweet feel to it, but also feels very rustic and like you would get from a typical farmhouse cider.

Now onto the main bit……the taste… starts with a sweet burst, which turns very sour very quickly and has a lovely sharp bite to it. It also feels very juicy and has a small crisp dry finish to it. I have to say this is definitely my kind of cider, but it isn’t going to be to everyones taste. You have to like your cider on the sour side to really appreciate this one.

Would I buy this again?: Yes
Overall Rating: 8.5/10
