This weekend has been a mental one. Lots of football and drinking, an amazing Sunday roast and now a few pints in the best cider pub in Bristol. The Orchard Inn is like an institution and if I was a religious man, then I’d be here every week to pray to the cider god. Tonight’s tipple is the North Hall Cider from Devon.

The weekend has been going well so far. I saw my nephew for his 4th birthday yesterday (and he’s loving the apple juice already – Great start!) and have been to see the mighty Bristol Rovers today, who had such a bore draw that you wanted to scratch your eyes out. Now it is a bit more of me time and to get on the cider. After a good few ciders already, I’m going back to having a Moles Black Rat (Still) cider.

It’s not often I get to say it’s the weekend already when it’s only Thursday, but thankfully today is one of those days. 4 days off work is planned for Easter, which means a bit more rest and recuperation. Well, it will probably mean a bit more cider drinking, but those 2 go together like ying and yang. Up today is the Single Variety (SV) Brown Snout cider from Ross-On-Wye (or Broome Farm as they also like to be called).

Today has been a really funny old day for the weather. I start in Bristol with a flurry of snow on the M4, get to Bridgend to some surprising sunshine (god how I missed that!) and then back home to even worse snow back into Bristol. Have we become a snow hotspot? I hope not. I want BBQ weather back, have a chilled cider/perry on the side and enjoy the day in my garden. I’d rather have to use my fridge for the chilling, rather than just having to stick it outside the door! Anyway, I brought in a bottle of perry from outside to enjoy before dinner and up today is the October Perry from Chiblers.

Today has been one of those days I’d rather forget, as work was just pants, but thankfully that’s over with for another day. I actually only remembered today that I’ve only got 2 more days left of the week! That’s an added bonus. I always remember Easter being in April and thus forget it fell this weekend. You can tell I’m in no way religious can’t you! Now we just need the weather to pick up a bit too! Right, less of the rambling and time to move on to tonight’s cider, which is going to be the Brown Snout Single Variety (SV) from Gillow.
