I’m on the cider pub crawl in Bristol and the weather is scorching hot. I’m sat in the garden of the Robin Hood, on St. Michaels Hill, and I need a nice cool refreshing pint. Up steps the Sheppys Oakwood Cider to see if it was up to the job.

I’ve made it halfway through the week now and the weekend is feeling ever closer. Work surprisingly has been going well lately and it is nice to be in the office and not just working from home. To help me chillout prior to the quiz in a bit I shall be sampling my final bottle of apfelwein. Yes I know, it’s an emotional time and good things must come to an end eventually. My final apfelwein is the Apfel Cidre from Jorg Stier.

5th-7th July – Beer On The Wye IX – Hereford CAMRA Beer & Cider Festival 2013 (Hereford, Herefordshire) Preview

Fri 5th July: 2pm-5pm (£3) & 5pm-11pm (£5)
Sat 6th July: 12pm-5pm (£4) & 5pm-11pm (£5)
Sun 7th July: 12pm-5pm (£1)

This year they are offering festival entry packs on the door to speed up the entry process. £10 for afternoon sessions or £15 for evening sessions will cover admission and a choice of pint or half-pint festival glass (£2 refundable), with the rest made up in drink tokens.

Concessions: CAMRA members pay the normal price but get a £2 allowance, (£1 on Sunday) in lieu of discount.

Tickets: Available on the door

Entry comes with a FREE festival programme, which lists all the drinks available.

Festival Glass: £2 (Refundable)

Camping: £8 per night for small/medium tent pitch. £10 per night for large tent or caravan/camping van.

Pre-booking of pitches is ESSENTIAL, but it is OK to pay on arrival on the day. Booking for all camping accommodation is via the HRC and is PREFERRED by e-mail or alternatively via 07813 331456. Camper van/caravan-owners should please note that the site is grassed, uneven in places and has no shore supplies. There are rubbish disposal and water facilities at the clubhouse. Parking for associated car(s) is free. Please take directions from the HRC camp site steward on arrival.
