Review/Tasting Notes:

After a good, hearty lunch, I’m back in Sachsenhausen for another mini cider tour. Up next is the Klaane Sachsehauser pub, which is just around the corner from Atschel.

This place is quite an experience as a pub itself. It seems to be full with fairly older people and has some guy playing the most odd and funky German music on a keyboard. I don’t know whether to laugh or pity him really!

Anyway, they make their own apfelwein and as usual it’s available by the glass or jug (bembel). I’ve opted for the glass this time. It poured a golden yellow colour and has the aroma of apples and wine. My initial taste is of crisp apples, lightly sour and a light dry finish. This feels a lot more light and less sour than the other apfelwein I’ve had today. There’s even a slight hint of Thatchers Heritage about it too. It’s good but by no means the best I’ve had over here.

Would I buy this again?: Probably
Overall Rating: 7/10

I guess a good glass of applewine makes the bad music go down better.
