This is the sister pub of the Golden Lion, set in the heart of the city centre on King Street. The main focus for this pub is the jazz, which becomes quite obvious when you step in, with loads of jazz posters everywhere! It’s famous for having many free live jazz/blues nights and a yearly jazz festival.

Review

When my other half books a weekend away, a couple of thoughts always run through my head. Will there be anywhere to watch the football? Will there be any cider? We went off to the rural town Cricklade for the weekend with those thoughts firmly in my head and went to stay at the Red Lion.

The pub is ideally located right next door to the station. Perfect for a quick pint before/after you’re catching a train. We opted for the latter. It’s a no-frills pub which serves a good pint, even if it is only Westons. Perfectly away-fans friendly for the football, very welcoming and you can have a good chat as there is no loud music.
